The customer wants to upgrade their SAP systems from 4.7 to 6.0, So can you please provide the steps and actions needs to be taken care during the migration.

If anybody has a migration document, can you share?

We are upgrading our SAP Production ECC6.0 from EHP4 to EHP7, currently we are facing problem in Execution Phase MAIN_SWITCH/STARTSAP_TRANS, where SUM failed to start sap services, we are able to start services manually but through SUM its giving error. The screenshot of error is attached.

we have installed IDES ECC 6.0 and when trying to create items in transaction ME21N, then I get a short dump, with the following message:

"Support package level not sufficient. See note 1600482."

In this note, it is stated that "These changes are already included in Business Suite 2011 and in SP26 of the SAP AP 7.00 software component." and as I checked in transaction SPAM we have SP26, AP 7.00.

Can you please tell me how to overcome this issue? What exactly should be done? In note 1600482 there are no clear actions mentioned as solution.

As Client business requirement, While sales order creation, If particular line item Material- [ item category type 'TAN' ] is not available on request delivery date at unrestricted stock then system automatically convert to third party item category 'TAS' and create Purchase requisition.

If partial qty is available at unrestricted stock then rest of the balance qty change to TAS from TAN

Example

1. Line item 10 --> order quantity 50 no’s and available qty is zero in unrestricted stock then entire 50 qty has to convert to third party order automatically.
2. Line item 20--> order quantity 30 no’s and available qty is 12 in unrestricted stock then only 18 no’s qty has to convert to third party order by automatically.

I am requesting you to kindly give the suggestion, As per my knowledge I ave checked that there is no option of SAP standard configuration setting, most possible solution is User Exit.

So Please guide me is there any User exit is available or is there any option for standard configuration setting.

Hi,

We have started the upgrade of BW 7.0 to 7.31 by using nZDM approach to reduce the downtime window.

We have reached to the end of phase Pre-processing where it is showing me the nZDM replication is active and its 95% completed and so I can start the downtime now.

As my downtime windows is going to start 3 days from the time of phase it has reached of replication stating 95% completed. Its already 24 Hours passed and when I am checking the status still it is showing 95% and also when I check in CRR tcode in Shadow instance I can't see any table in process there.

Is it normal it takes so long or is this is a bug where it shows till 95% only ??

Or I should wait for sometime more for getting it complete.

I am bit confuse with this state, Also when I am checking the logs on OS level of SUM the logs of replication is getting updated continuously. Also I am worried if this is something zombie it should not full my file system where the SUM logs are getting generated till the time of downtime window.

Can you somebody put some lights on this to clear my doubts please.

I have the following scenario.

I have a material in which the Material PO text is automatically coming from material master.

Tcode - ME23N

Select PO

Step 1.

Click on Print Preview.

The PO text of the line item re not shown in print preview.

Now again

Go back to ME23N.

Click on Item Detail - Texts

Now the Material PO text is shown in the print preview.

That means unless we click on the text tab for each and every line item we are not getting the texts in print preview.

is there any direct path (one -step upgrade) for the upgrade from R/3 4.5 to ECC EHP6 .

i found on the  post : SAP Upgrade that upgrade to EHP5 actually is direct path

also i found a document on sap, and i don't know if is still valid.

Hi

During the upgrade, we took the offline backup after the "execution" phase (before the post-processing)

step. At this time, we did not take the SUM directory backup.

Upgrade process completed successfully after post processing step and we took the backup of SUM.

Because of some issue, we would like to roll back the system to the start of "post-processing" phase of upgrade.

Question: As i mentioned, we don't have SUM backup when we took the offline backup before starting

the "post processing" phase. Can we use the SUM backup that we took after complete upgrade and offline backup that

we took before the "post processing" phase to roll back.

Pls confirm.

Hi all,

I was trying to uncar the SPAM/SAINT update file for SAP ECC 4.7.

But at time of uncar, there is an error - "format error in header "

Then i searched and found out one SAP note : "892842 - SAPCAR error: format error in header"

In that note it is saying that i have to download the latest file. I have already download the latest file for SAP ECC 4.7 (KD62057.SAR). But while trying uncar that file also the same error is showing. This time i've downloaded the next file. i.e, (KD62055.SAR). Still getting the same error.

I have searched lot, but still i can't get any proper reply...

as part of upgrade by mistake I have chosen the option 'Reset to Original'. But as per code comparison w.r.t. old version I come to know that I need to modify this  changed SAP code now. Did you ever face such scenario? Please suggest me the various possible option which I can try?

performed an enhancement pack upgrade from SAP ECC 6 EHP4 to  EHP7 SP3 upgrade , where except core components other components upgraded to equivalent support pack level.

That is SAP_APPL is in Ver. 617 sp03 and EA_APPL is in Ver. 600 SP24. Now we are trying to bring the other component to the same level of EHP7 sp3.

When XML generated with ERP 6 enhancement pack 7 in SOLMAN, it is not recognizing/including  617 SP03 components of the missed ones.

Two options followed here:

1. Through SUM tool -

2. By Manual method through SAINT/SPAM

Both method xml is not recognised. Please let us know to proceed further.

I seek for your advice on Test approach for SAP Upgrade from EHP 5 to EHP 7

I do release management but I have never been responsible for test management on that kind of project.

We are going to start upgrade from sandbox, than test tier and go-live is schedulled in few months.

What kind of level of testing is advisable? is Unit, UAT and Regression enought? would you focuse on Risk Based Testing approach? or would you test everything there? Is sandbox right tier for regression testing? or other functional testing is recommended? Is integration testing usually preformed in sandbox?

If there are any materials or simillar discussion on SCN please point me in right direction.

From last upgrade (offshored) I have recieved information that end-to-end processes needs to be tested but for me it is deffinetly to little information.

    I am trying to add a serial number to sales order.

I have tried using IWOL_WV_POST_OBJECT_LIST.

This is giving me short dump as the OBJVW(Object list usage) should be S(Serial number list), but by using this function module,

this value is internally set as K(Maintenance contract).

I am not using the function module SERNR_ADD_TO_AU, as this one do not allow to add the a serial number to two different sales orders.

Is there any other approach for this. Please let me know.

Performing Upgrade : From EHP5 to EHP7

Currently we are in the downtime phase and believe almost nearing to the completion. However things getting into trouble because of the environment varaibale.

Now we are in the downtime phase MAIN_NEWBAS/SHADOW_NTACT_REDEL - and it says that tp is not able to get connect with the database and hence it fails. When we wheck the logs its looking for variable  DB2DB6EKEY it seems, however this variable is existing in sidadm and also in db2sid.

R3trans working fine and even the original systems are up and running (I could see that )

However not able to proceed further in the phase as its not constantly looking for this - Any inputs will help us alot.

Hello Experts,

We have SRM 5.0 with EP 7.0 and BI 7.0 ehp1 in our landscape. Here LAC is working over EP. Now my doubt is, if we upgrade SRM 5.0 to SRM 7.0 EHP3 (which latest EHP) do we also need to upgrade Enterprise portal and BI also to latest EHP.

Please help in this.

In upgrade processing from ERP  6.0 to EhP7 (linux/oracle), we are facing a problem on step 'MAIN_SHDIMP/SUBMOD_SHD2_RUN/RUN_RSGEN' in phase Preprocessing using the SUM10 SP13.
